Hand Therapy
Hand Therapy is a specialized type of rehabilitation for those patients with conditions that affect their hands and upper extremities. Hand therapy combines comprehensive knowledge with specialized skills in the assessment and treatment of the hand. After a thorough evaluation and assessment, your therapist will develop an individualized treatment plan to address any deficits and help you to achieve your goals. The ultimate goal is to restore functional use by increasing range of motion, strength, proprioception, fine motor skills, as well as improving sensation and decreasing pain. Hand therapy can address injury prevention, help to restore functional activities and abilities and enhance participation in daily activities and recreation. Our CRI therapists will work with you from start to finish; a hand therapist can work with a variety of upper extremity conditions, beginning within the first few days following an injury or surgery and continuing through to return to work or play.
When everything is a challenge, we can help you to get back to brushing your teeth, driving to work, holding a loved one’s hand, writing, typing and all of those little tasks you used to do without a second thought.
